The drop in business in some ‘mature’ countries was off set by development in emerging countries. Implementation in 2006 of the Performance 2010 plan applied to a number of countries where the Group operates, such as Turkey, Senegal, Egypt, and Switzerland, increased plant production capacities, thereby improving production costs, and enabled the Group to keep up with the economic expansion which generated an increase in cement sales.
